The minimum membership duration is two months. Thereafter, your membership renews on a month-to-month basis at its current level until you request a change or cancellation.

Here’s how to change or cancel your membership #

You can change or cancel your membership level by notifying us in writing (email is fine). Per the terms of our membership agreement, at least 60 days’ notice must be given to cancel or step down from a private or semi-private office. At least 30 days’ notice is required to cancel or step down any other membership level. You can step up at any time.

We will respond to your written request with a confirmation of what’s going to happen, when.

For cancellations, note that fees are due through the date of membership termination, even if you are no longer using your membership.

Here’s why we do it this way #

• More permanent record.
  If you come talk to us, we’ll ask you to send an email. If you Slack us, we’ll send you an email with the request you made in Slack and ask you to confirm. Since we’re on the free version of Slack, messages are deleted. We need a more permanent record of these types of things.
• We’re abiding by federal and state laws.
  Under existing federal laws like ROSCA, companies must clearly disclose all auto-renewal and material terms before taking billing info (which we do via our website and our email communication during the sign-up process). We must get express informed consent. And, we must provide a simple mechanism to stop recurring charges. That simple mechanism is an email to us. The State of Maryland requires that cancellations are as easy as our sign-up process. As you might recall, sign-ups are done with a two-step process. Interested people complete a short initial form which is emailed to us. We respond with instructions for completing the sign-up process. Changes and cancellations are handled in similar way. You contact us via email and we respond with the details of your change or cancellation.
